Temple Entrances - Majestic and rustic

sri-18.jpgWhile in India I would visit ancient and splendourous temples almost every week. It was my hobby to seek out and visit such ancient repositories of culture, heritage and history. Some temples were popular and attracted several devout pilgrims every day and crowds would throng during weekends. And thanks to Indias burgeoning population and new found prosperity, people are contributing enormously to the temples. But what is the government doing? The government which is obviously “Secular” meaning “Anti-Hindu” takes this money and deploys it in the development of Churches and Mosques; funds Haj Subsidies; and appoints officers to imposes more curbs and controls on the activities of temples.

Temple enroute to Ghati SubramanyaWhen I came to know of this in the beginning, I was shocked but then these statistics are in public records of the state governments across India. It is indeed shocking to note this happening in our country. But at this rate I sometimes wonder if Hinduism will ever survive this onslaught from all sides? On a positive and optimistic note I am certain it will survive because for over 2,000 years Bharath or Hindustan (renamed India by thick-tongued Britishers) was subjugated, plundered, enslaved and efforts made to kill Sanatana Dharma, but we are still alive and kicking. And I am sure there will come a time, quite soon when we will stand up and kick others who are posing a threat to our faith.

Meanwhile enjoy the pictures of the many temples I shot while I was in India. Look at their splendor and rejoice in the devotion of Hindus towards their gods. For it is only through devotion that such marvelous structures could have been built.
